Stop motion
From Mographwiki.net
Stop motion animation is a technique that simulates the movement of inanimate objects. It is manifested in various mediums, including:
• Puppet stop motion animation
• Clay stop motion animation, which is often referred to as "claymation", a term that is technically trademarked by Will Vinton, but is widely used as an abbreviation.
• Object stop motion animation
• Cut paper stop motion animation
• Direct manipulation animation is often considered as a form of stop motion, though some consider it to be its own seperate, distinct form of animation.
The technique is accomplised by capturing only one frame of footage at a time either with a still or motion camera. After each frame is captured, the artist adjusts the elements of the scene in minute or dramatic ways. The artist then captures the next frame and repeats the process.
Stop motion footage is often present in mograph pieces. Often, stop motion animated elements are brought into compositing programs such as After Effects and combined with other elements of different mediums. The look of stop motion is often simulated in mograph pieces. This can be accomplished by reducing the number of frames that play back per second in a given element. Stop motion generated footage usually plays back at 10-15 frames per second, as does traditional and low-budget Cel animation.
