Introduction

Mograph.net is an motion graphics forum started in early 2003 by a Rotterdam-based comic-book aficionado and illustrator who posts anonymously under the name Firemind. Originally intended as a link-dump to track motion graphics companies, the site quickly gained membership via crossovers from Creative Cow.

The unique pull of mograph.net was its free-form discussion of all things motion--an emphasis less on the beginner technical questions than on advanced opinions and aesthetic debate. The Reels section, an ambitious database of all motion graphics companies, was also an attraction, providing inspiration and a sense of where the keyframing world was headed.

The site grew under the additional moderatorship of Igorschmigor (Pascal Collins, a German-based aficionado). Upon Igor's resignation in late 2004, deputy moderatorship passed in January 2005 to govinda (Richard Powell, based in Los Angeles). Additional moderators sao_bento (Todd Fuller, San Francisco), 3rd_Martini (Jeremy Fuksa, Oklahoma City) came on in early 2005, and Beaver (Alan Hettinger, Atlanta) joined the moderating team in early 2006 to carry on for the flagging govinda.
