Coca Cola Winner Celebrates Web Victory

The Coca Cola ‘Essence of You' Challenge

The Background:

Coca Cola’s recently re-launched website (www.coca-cola.com), is creating monthly 'creative challenges' to encourage consumers to get involved with the whole creative brand process and be part of the 'Coke Side of Life' motto.

With traditional forms of advertising losing their potency in the current multi media era, this is a way of reaching out to all those creative people out there. Whereas traditionally Coke has always looked to its heritage as a creative source (Andy Warhol in the 60s), today its everyday peoples’ views and interpretations of what being creative and living on the ‘Coke Side of Life’ means. The Challenge:

The Bottle Film captures the essence of Coke, but that’s our story. What’s yours?

Create a film that captures the essence of you. Tell us something you’ve done or want to do, share an important moment that totally changed your world or put on a show that’s undeniably you. Silly or serious, intense or laid back, the only requirement is that it has to be YOU. The Prize:

The winner receives a computer and digital video camera of their choice plus Adobe Production Studio Premium software.

The Judges:

The creative minds behind the Coca Cola Bottle Films made up the judging panel and included representatives from award-winning advertising and music video production industries Weiden + Kennedy, Nexus & Transistor Studios, amongst others.

The Winner:

Carol Benwell, a graphic and web designer from Phoenix, Arizona

What inspires her? The work of talented designers. Seeing something so amazing that you want to figure out how it was done.

What is guaranteed to make her smile? The familiar and loveable behaviour of her pets.

Her friends describe her as… Quiet, smart and serious.
