After Effects integration with 3D

Integration with Cinema 4D
Cinema 4D includes the ability to output compositions, layers and channels separately for use in AE. C4D can output an .aec file which is an After Effects Composition file. It can include camera data, lights and rendered object layers.
One application of the multipass feature is to render a separate depth layer so you can use the object's distance from the camera to change its appearance in After Effects. It is usually more efficient to tweak settings in AE rather than outputting them "baked in" from C4D. For example objects farther away from the camera can be made to look more blurry than objects closer to the camera using the depth layer information.
In C4D, use the Render > Render Settings > Multi-Pass tab and select Depth from the Channels flyout menu on the right. Depth is the last item in the list. Be sur e to give it a name at the bottom of the Multipass dialogue. Note: All layers you select to render from the Multipass dialogue will use this base name.
When the file is rendered, import it into AE and use the layer to control effects such as compound blur or fog to make those items farther away from the camera look farther away.
