After Effects bugs

Rules of the game
Okay, as a tried and tested Beta tester of various softwares, I thought it useful to provide some guidelines on how to go about this.
What is the use of this list?
The list found below is neither maintained nor endorsed by Adobe, its afiliates or developers. It is a means of documenting recurring problems, bugs and annoyances from users to users. However, the vendor will be made aware of the existance of this list and may choose to use it as a reference for his own developmental work.
What is a bug?
A bug is a technical problem in an software application. It leads to functions of the program not working as either intended or expected by the user, renders the program or parts of it inert and unusable, crashes the program or in a worst-case scenario crashes the entire computer. A bug is always bound to a component or function that exists in a program. Missing features are not bugs.
What should you write?
For all intents and purposes, a description of a bug should be as concise as possible, yet comprehensive. I know that this is like walking a tightrope, but in the interest of reducing the amount of noise and improving usefulness of this list, it is paramount that you nail down the problem with precision and do not turn this into a mere complaint. There is a set of basic information that you should include:
Short name of the bug
This describes the problem in as few words as possible and wil be used as a common reference point by all users.
Detailed description of the bug, steps to reproduce
In this section please provide some info when the bug occurs and what you have done to make it appear. All those steps should be reproducible by other users on other systems. Please include system-specific things such as graphics card type or operating system when relevant.
Potential solutions and workarounds
Some bugs are severe, some are just minor quirks. If you have found a solution to avoid a bug from occuring or can provide an alternative solution, please file it under that heading.
When reporting bugs, please include your name and timestamp. I would kindly ask anyone reporting here to try to verify bugs before editing the text. If you can confirm a bug, please add your signature and timestamp to confirm. The more users confirm, the more likely is it to have found a real bug and in turn it is thus more likely that this bug will be fixed by the developers.
I have created 4 categories for bugs based on their severity and annoyance factor for users. Please try to categorize anything you report accordingly. Many thanks.

Short name: After Effects 7 (Win & Mac): Parenting rolldown not working sporadically. Description: The parenting rolldown in the timeline does not get drawn under certain conditions like too many layers being in the timeline. Presumably After Effects thinks this list is too long and thus does not even attempt to draw it. Solution/ Workaround: Remove layers or pre-compose or use the pickwhip.--Mylenium 02:05, 9 December 2006 (PST)
Short name: After Effects 7 (Win & Mac): Timeline tabs are automatically alphabetized when opening a project. Description: Instead of maintaining the tab order when the project was saved, tabs get re-arranged alphabetically. This is a sporadic and irregular occurance and it is not clear what triggers it. Solution/ Workaround: None.--Mylenium 02:05, 9 December 2006 (PST)
Short name: After Effects 7 (Win & Mac): Closing nested compositions does not jump back to master composition. Description: When nested compositions are opened from their master comp using Alt+doubleclick, After Effects does not remember the master comp. Instead it will use the composition that was next to the pre-comp in the compositions rolldown. Solution/ Workaround: None.--Mylenium 02:05, 9 December 2006 (PST)
Short name: After Effects 7 (Mac): Program will not unhide itself once hidden. Description: When After Effects is hidden (either from the menu command or the shortcut), it sporadically refuse to unhide itself. You must force quit in order to restart the program and unsaved work is lost. Solution/ Workaround: To force quit while automatically saving your project you can use the Terminal and type "ps -xc" and note the PID number for After Effects. Then type "kill -SEGV xxx" (replacing xxx with the PID for After Effects). This force quit the program while saving a copy of your project in the directory where the last version was saved.[1] This apparently as been fixed in the 7.0.1 update for After Effects, available here.
