Description

Animated 3D shapes styled after graffiti, sometimes taking the form of arrows.

The technique usually takes advantage of a basic 3D tool--the sweep object, which is formed by sweeping a profile spline or a shape along a path. In Psyop's 'Coflow,' the most famous early use of this technique, skillful spray paint-style texturing distracted from the 3D nature of the geometry. In Tronic's 'Creative Review' (2003), the effect is polished and more self-consciously 3D.

In the both these cases, the CG was composited into live action footage using match-moving techniques.
